Ground Rent

Hi – I recently got a letter from the debt collectors asking for my ground rent. Problem is I never got the original letter asking me to pay, just the threatening one adding £100 to the bill for admin late fees. This bothers me as the same thing happened last year (and its a waste of good beer cash).

Has this been a problem for anyone else… am I supposed to get a letter letting me now ground rent is due or just know to do this at a certain time each year.

Hi Gus,

In my experience the ground rent becomes due every year on the 1st of January.  I think there was one occasion in the past when I missed it and I think I got a red reminder in February.  This I paid and it didn't attract a penalty payment.

The invoice from Secure Reversions Limited for ground rent usually arrives in early December each year, with a due date of 01/01 the following year.
