According to fire personnel present (in full force, with four fire engines which, apparently, is standard procedure), a small fire broke out earlier this evening in the water boiler cabinet of a top floor flat at 1 RQ. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the incident, and the fire, which developed “a lot of smoke”, has now been put out.

As an aside obviously, we lost our Sky connection shortly after the arrival of the fire services, who say they temporarily switched off the power supply to the flat in question. Given that our Sky dish sits on top of 1 RQ and that other Sky users in our stairwell are affected too, I cannot help but think there may be a connection.

Despite several reboots etc. of our Sky box, the signal remains off following the power cut earlier this evening at 1 RQ due to the fire.  As Sky plainly are not interested in (or responsible for) communal dishes, like ours, can someone, perhaps at Residents' Company level, please bring their influence(s) to bear in the right places to get the signal back up and running, preferably in time for the Chinese F1 GP starting at 7.10 a.m.?

      Thank you  🙂

      Hi Tom

Thanks for posting this and making people aware it is a general issue. I'm at 98 Rope Street and we also have had no satellite or aerial signal since yesterday evening.

Have you reported this to Rynew yet?

      Cheers

      Paul

      Hi Paul and Tom

We have the same issue. I sent an email to Rynew today and will call them in the morning.

      Hello All,

I only just got back to RQ and found this out.  I have restored power to the Sat. system and it should all be working now.

      Thanks
      Simon
